Botany: Stockwood Open Space

Leader: Helena Crouch.

Stockwood Open Space is a Local Nature Reserve owned by Bristol City Council and managed in partnership with Avon Wildlife Trust. It has a wonderful array of species-rich meadows, hedgerows, ponds and woodland. This afternoon ramble will be an opportunity to see spring flowers, particularly in the woodland, with Bluebells and a large population of Bath Asparagus (Ornithogalum pyrenaicum).

Meet by the bus layby at ST62406890 / BS14 8LQ. You can park near here, on street in The Coots or Burnbush Close, or in the layby at the end of Stockwood Road, just before the sharp left turn into The Coots. Although there are some tarmac paths, we will explore woodland and meadows, so please bring suitable footwear and sun cream or rain gear as appropriate.
