Acid grassland is in short supply in our area, with Troopers Hill and Rodway Hill offering rare patches of this habitat, with some of their characteristic species such as the moss Bristly Haircap Polytrichum piliferum. We will venture to the latter site, examining the grassland for its mosses and liverworts, as well as the nearby woods for some common epiphytes and typical woodland species. Bring a hand lens, ideally illuminated and/or a small torch (can use your phone torch). Complete beginners welcome.
Meet at the northern end of the hill, on Manor Road, opposite Manor Grove (ST663758).
