With its wealth of micro-habitats and rocky niches, this expansive urban site is a great place to look at bryophytes – and it boasts a good range of species. Rupert Higgins recently found a very unusual one here, Rusty Fork-moss Dicranum spurium, growing on a grave. This rare species is usually encountered on heathland, so perhaps it came in with some heather used in a floral display.
