The Society has a library & three regular publications that are available free to members.
Generally known as “The Bulletin” this is the Society’s monthly newsletter – our way of keeping all members in touch with key events and news.

- Details of other local events that may be of interest to members
- Latest news regarding wildlife and geology seen locally
- Information regarding the running of the Society
- Current issue and previous Bulletins are in the Member’s Area
- Distributed to members 10 times per year
The Society’s journal provides a platform for all members to submit their findings as short reports or academic papers and also to report on and publicise projects and events occurring in the region. The journal also contains the Proceedings of the Society for the previous year.

The Avon Bird report is an award winning annual publication jointly funded by the Bristol Naturalists’ Society and the Bristol Ornithological Club
- Species by species summary of the reports of every species found in the Bristol area
- Papers summarising observations on the natural history and ecology of local birds
- Annual report of bird ringing in the Bristol area
- A selection of the year’s outstanding bird photographs
- Distributed to members annually

Library Opening Times
Open to members on the first Saturday of each month from 10.30 a.m. till noon. Please bring a copy of the current BNS Bulletin to prove membership. To book an appointment please contact the librarian.

The Library of the Bristol Naturalists’ Society is a valuable resource. Few natural history societies can match the facilities and content of the library of over 3,000 books occupying some 500ft of shelf space. During opening hours (see above) a Library Committee representative will be on duty to provide assistance.

Members of the Society may borrow up to six items for 60 days. Items may be renewed for an extra 30 days, at the discretion of the duty Librarian
