An adventure to assess the Green-winged Orchid Anacamptis morio colony in these top-class mesotrophic meadows. As well as hybrid orchids of various stripes, there are plenty of other delights to be encountered here, including Dyer’s Greenweed Genista tinctoria, Saw-wort Serratula tinctoria, Adder’s-tongue Fern Ophioglossum vulgatum and as many as fifteen species of sedge.

Meet at the access track, east off the B3114 Chew Stoke to West Harptree road at ST55505974 ///loses.shot.adventure
(nearest postcode BS40 6NL, but beware this will take you up the lane opposite if followed completely).

The gate, which is normally locked, will be open and there is ample parking within the lake enclosure.
