This is a morning only meeting. We will walk around the old mine workings in Velvet Bottom, Blackmoor Reserve and nearby Nether Wood. The area is fairly reliable for Redstart and we would hope to see and hear a good selection of warblers amongst other woodland and farmland species. The area is also good for wild flowers, dragonflies and butterflies. There are no steep climbs, but the path is rocky and uneven in places and may well be muddy. We should finish by about noon.

Meet at the parking area down the lane behind the Charterhouse Activity Centre (please don’t use their car park). Drive up through Burrington Coombe and turn right off the B3134 at Paywell Farm down the road signed Priddy and Charterhouse. After 0.8 mile you will reach a crossroads just before the Activity Centre, turn left and follow the lane down to the Blackmoor Reserve car park by the mine workings (ST505557 or BS40 7XR).
