Walton Common is an AWT reserve and an SSSI. There is a mix of limestone grassland and woodland plus some interesting ancient earthworks. We should see a good mix of birds and some interesting plants. If the weather is kind it is also a good place for butterflies.

The walk will be led by David Horlick, who has been the volunteer warden here for over 10 years.

Meet at 9.00am in the layby above Walton in Gordano village on Walton Street, the coast road to Portishead, (ST 423 736; ///scratches.gong.dished; BS21 7AP). After crossing the road we will climb the steep path up through the woods to the reserve. The going underfoot will be uneven and steep in places and could be muddy after rain. We should be finished by 12.00 noon.
