SPECIAL MEETING – Dandelions of the Downs with Dylan Peters.
The Downs, with its vast areas of open grassland, surrounding streets and road verges, offers rich hunting grounds for dandelions. Botanising here can be a daunting task at the best of times, but this specialist meeting will be devoted solely to this cryptic group of plants (there are nearly 250 species known from the British Isles). You will never look at a dandelion the same way again! If you happen to have the Field Handbook to British and Irish Dandelions by A.J. Richards do bring it along.
Meet by the Water Tower off Stoke Road (ST57157494, ///punch.ladder.puff) at 12pm – note the earlier time (and bring a packed lunch): we will be stopping and starting even more than usual!
