This is an indoor lecture meeting. Venue: Redland Meeting House (click here for details on how to get there)
Speaker: Joe Hrastelj, RSPB Reserve Warden (& BNS member)
Joe Hrastelj is going to talk about his work managing two of the most interesting woodland nature reserves in our area, Nagshead in the Forest of Dean and Highnam Woods near Gloucester.
Nagshead Reserve supports healthy breeding populations of Pied Flycatchers, Redstarts, Firecrests and a number of other scarce woodland species, while Highnam Woods contains one of the few remaining Nightingale populations in the southwest and is a notable butterfly site.
Come and hear more about these two fascinating reserves and about the way they are managed to maintain their bird populations and other wildlife. With Wild Boar and Pine Martins returning to the Forest of Dean, how are the forest ecosystems affected? Maybe Joe can provide some answers.
