Northwick Warth has one of the largest expanses of saltmarsh in our area. As well as the more common saltmarsh plants, there are populations of Sea Clover Trifolium squamosum, Bulbous Foxtail Alopecurus bulbosus and, in small pools, Brackish Water-crowfoot Ranunculus baudotii. A large population of the inter-generic hybrid grass x Elytrordeum langei (the cross between Common Couch Elymus repens and Meadow Barley Hordeum secalinum) may be of interest to some. The sea-wall has recently been rebuilt and there may be the odd surprise on its newly revegetated banks.
