Category

Date

12th July 2025
11:00 am - 3:00 pm

The trip will examine the exceptional section of the White Lias (Langport Member of the Rhaetic Lilstock Formation) exposed in the cliffs about 2km to the SW of Lyme Regis and the insights that this provides for the nature of the Triassic – Jurassic boundary. The visit will also be a useful follow-on of the articles on the White Lias in the 2024 BGS Journal by Maurice Tucker and Eric Squires. (If BNS members want a copy, please email [email protected] )

As low tide will be about 14:00 BST it should be possible to walk to Pinhay Bay partly along the Blue Lias ledges which are generally easier going than the coarse beach material. That said, it should be noted that walking across the cobble beach can be strenuous and there are no facilities at all until you get back to the car park.

Further details for the trip will appear in due course.

Early expressions of interest or firm reservations for the trip would be appreciated. Please contact Bob Mustow on: [email protected] .
