The WWT Steart Marshes Reserve has rapidly become a major ornithological hotspot since its opening in 2014. The reserve offers miles of paths, hides on saltmarsh and freshwater scapes with the coastal wader roost and mudflats of Bridgewater Bay. We would hope to see a good mix of waders, duck, birds of prey and passerines and there is always the chance of something unusual at this time of year.

Meet at the main reserve car park (ST 25208 44210, TA5 2PU, ///garlic.harp.merge) at 10:00, see www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/steart-marshes/visiting-steart-marshes for further details and directions.

We will walk the paths to the main lagoons, using the hides. We will probably start by moving on to Stert Point to see the wader roost.

The walking is flat and will mostly follow well surfaced paths.
